6/6/2010 Enjoy punk gig during Beijing hotel stay
Music fans who stay in a Beijing hotel later this year will have the chance to check out a punk gig. Australian band the Backyard Surgeons are playing at the D-22 venue on September 10th 2010, when fans may hope they play tunes from their Totally Numb EP. Influenced by the likes of Bad Religion and NOFX, the group formed in Melbourne in 2006 and describe their sound as "short, loud and fast". The gig is one of a number of events being hosted at the D-22, which touts itself as the home of China's underground music scene. July 30th 2010 will see Streets Kill Strange Animals play, while the following day local bands Trash Cat, Flyx and Discord are set to take to the stage. The venue is located in the Wudaokou area and can house around 200 spectators. It runs club nights, along with providing a rehearsal space and workshop studio for local artists.
